Review for AUDIO version of Not Another One-Night Stand by RL Kenderson

Standard

This is for the audio version.:
Paisley is so sweet and smart and cute but also just a bit naive. Colin is a good guy. He is protective and he is sweet and kind. Their story is fun and flirty. It is an easy read. It is a fun read. It moves logically and smoothly through their relationship. There are a couple of times where he says to himself, he doesn’t know if he loves her and that is a bit confusing. I love the girls and their club. It is fun to revisit them and their significant others. I read this book as an ARC. I also bought a copy. 10/7/23
I read this book as an ARC. I also bought a copy. Today I listened to the audio version, and I concur with my original thoughts on this story. The audio version is just as good. I really like the voices. I love the way they sound as their part and when they voice the opposite sex. I love how Paisley wants to be what she considers a better person. She works on fixing herself, though she really doesn’t need it. I still love the girl club. Thank you to the author for a review copy. These are my own thoughts.

A great first in series by a author favorite Em Petrova

I love this story. I love the action, the mystery, the suspense and of course the HEA. Pippa is a strong, smart, caring, wide eyed, likeable woman. When she calls Ross for help she never doubts that she can count on him. I love Ross for his protective nature. He has his deep seated ideas about his future and I like seeing him realize he may be changing course and I love that he sticks with his changed mind. He feels so deeply and that makes me smile. I love the brothers and mom and Corinne. I love how they have each other’s back. I love revisiting with the Guard. I can’t wait for the next story in this wonderful new series. I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for Boone’s story. The story is well written, well thought out and well developed and a wild ride to happiness.

Lucky ARC Reader: Otterly Irresistible by Erin Nicholas

Otterly Irresistible (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #1)
Absolutely Adorable!

Perfection. I absolutely adore the delightful Charlie Landry. She is a bright shining star who burns intensely and lovingly. I love her wit and her pseudo snark. I love Griffin and how hard he tries to resist. I love the way he tries to detach. I love the big, loud, pushy, meddling Landry family. The story is full of heart and helpfulness and bonding. It makes your heart smile big and bright. I can’t wait for Fletcher’s story, the bigger they are the harder they fall.

An extremely pleasant surprise: Gravedigger by JC Jaye

Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2021. I really like Casey or Sunshine as Clint calls her. She is a strong young woman who has lost her way. Her tragedy is fresh and painful and I like the way she acknowledges her grief and her method of grieving and how she tries to overcome. I like her candor and her bravery and her attitude. I love poor Clint. He is protective and jealous and lonely and loyal and brave and so self depreciating and needs love and care. They are perfect for each other and I love their journey. I love their story. I love how the story shows her family and friends and his friends. I like that the angst is over pretty quickly and how it is kept internal between them. I like that there is the danger and action elements tied to their story and that these elements are wrapped up.

Undeniable is the first in a bright shiny new series by Melissa Schroeder

Undeniable (Dominion Rockstar Romance Book 1) by [Melissa Schroeder, Maya Reed]

I absolutely adore Pippa and Gareth. I love their interactions and their dynamic. I love that he is so sweet, caring and laid back. I love that he is not the typical rock star. I love that she is so cute with her crush. She knows the business and she is smart, strong and sexy. I love Jax and Knox and Livvie and Abby. I can not wait for the rest of this series. 4.5 strong stars

A cute story that turned out to have unexpected depth: Mail Order Bride by Jordan Marie, previously published as Tory Baker

His Mail Order Bride (Alpha Men Book 1) by [Jordan Marie, Wander Aguiar]

I really like the way Stone is able to see his future, how he is able to plan and dream and reason and adapt. He does not let the fact that the Carly he met on line is not exactly the same Carly that he gets in real life. I like the way Carly grows and falls hard and shows her feelings. This is a sweet, sexy story with a determined hero. 4.5 Strong Stars

Halftime Husband by Erin McCarthy

Halftime Husband: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy (Sassy In The City Book 5) by [Erin McCarthy]
More than FWB

I really like Brandon. I did think a couple of times he should get his head out of his rear, but I really do like him. I also like Dakota, She is a free spirit but not goofy. She is sweet and kind and loving. I love Poppy and Willow. I like Brandon’s friends Matt and Carson. I like the look ahead to Dak’s book. I love the way they interact and treat each other. I like the tension and my gosh I love the chemistry. This is a really great read. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Sometimes you just have to lean on each other. Kate Stone’s Second Chance at Spicewood Ranch

Second Chance at Spicewood Ranch by [Kate Stone]
Another shorter story with unexpected depths

This story has tragedy and pain and heartbreak. It has tough times and lightness. I love the way Emmy gathers herself and makes her way through. I love that she helps Justin to recover. I love that he realizes what he has, what he wants, what he needs and that he has the desire and the strength to grab it and move on. This is a sweet story that packs a punch in heat. I love that the ly lean on each other and carry on.

Netgalley find: Talk Hockey to Me by Kelly Jamieson

Standard

I find this book to be different because of Kate’s profession. I love that she is so strong, smart, loving, caring, independent and still has vulnerabilities. I love that she knows her mind and does not really hold back. I love her outlook and attitude. I love that she grows throughout the book. I love the looks back at their history in college. I love Hunter because he believes he is broken. I love that deep down he knows who he is, what he wants and his attitude of bluffing through life. I love his growth. He has such depths, especially when it comes to feelings. I love the way they fit together and the way they interact with each other and with their friends. I love Kate’s family and friends. I love the writing and the way the characters are developed. I had a few tears and some laughs, but mostly I just had heart feelings. I give this wonderful read 5 bright and shiny stars!

Favorite quotes include: Our smiles shine across the car and join in a sunbeam of joy and delight.

Relief and joy pour through me, like sunshine and starlight and moonbeams, heating me from the inside out, warming my heart.

Loving the Men of Valor (MC)

Standard
Virgin Ride (Men of Valor MC) by [Barbra Campbell]
Rocky Road to HEA 5 Smoking Hot Stars *****

This is the second Men of Valor story that I have read and I have to say it is my favorite. Ace (Aaron) is holding on hard to his current life which he crafted from the ashes of his past. Sophia also carries scars from her past. When they lock eyes the feelings are instant. Their path to an to the end of this book is difficult to travel but Ace never seems to stumble. He tugs hard on my heart strings, hard and often. I love that he is loyal, protective, steadfast and recognizes what he wants and needs and goes after it. I want to tell Sophia to ease up several times during this story. Spoilers

I like that Aaron falls fast for Sophia but I love that he falls for the baby. I love that he pursues her and offers her unconditional love and is willing to accept whatever she can or is willing to give him I love that the MC takes care of the town. This book really hit me in the feels because of Aaron’s character.

Hard Ride : Men of Valor MC, book 9 by [Tory Baker]

4 Spicy Stars ****: Gage and Nova have been tip toeing around each other for quite some time. I like when they interact. I like their fire. I like the secondary characters, like Stella and Nova’s dad. I love the twist, that suspense keeps you on edge.

Cruz (Hot Shots Book 2) by [Tory Baker]
3.5 Loving Stars ***/

3.5 Stars I really like Mateo Cruz. He is a sexy surfer with a navy seal background. He is kind and loving and knows his mind. He is loyal and protective. I also like Luna. She is independent and does what needs to be done and does not cry over spilled milk. There were a few times that I feel the story was rushed and we were given details when it might have been better to see the actions play out in a scene, but over all this is good writing, easy to read and flows smoothly. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Preacher (Montana Bounty Hunters: Dead Horse, MT Book 2) by [Delilah Devlin]
4 to 4 1/2 Loving Stars ****/

The story of Preacher and Laura has it all. It is a case of insta-lust that bubbles to the surface among awkward moments and unexpected words. I love it. The suspense, the action, the small town and sweet people, the team coming together as a big family, all of it meshes together and makes for good story telling. All of the characters are well written and hold meaning in the story. The writing is easy and flows naturally. The story is intriguing and pulls you in. That ending though, wow, leaves you wanting more.

Rebel Teacher (Adult Education) by [Renee Harless]

3.5 Instant Stars ***/
Paige and Shane is a quick read that is sweet and insta. I like the characters and I like the underlying story line. I like the second chance element and absolutely love the brother’s best friend detail. I like Jake and Clara is a sweetie. The story has heart and makes you ling for more.

Over the weekend I finished Em Petrova’s newest Xtreme Ops book. Extreme Behavior ***** 5 Red Hot Stars

Alix and Viv give us another great story from the Xtreme Ops team. This one does not disappoint. I love the passion Viv has for her choice of livelihood. I love that Alix is the first to realize his life could be different if only he will open up and let it. I love catching up with the rest of the team. I would like to see Hunt get a story. I can’t wait for the next. The writing is great, easy to read and flows very well. The steamy times are hot and spicy. The love is true. I truly enjoy the time I spend with this series.

Xtreme Behavior (Xtreme Ops Book 3) by [Em Petrova]

I also devoured Michelle Mankin’s newest story where I found that I quite enjoy this rock star series **** 4 Hot Stars

Sierra learns the hard way not to trust. Ben has been broken since childhood. Watching these two learn and grow lifts your spirits and keeps you on your toes. They will break your heart but as the story progresses they break your heart in a good way. I love the characters, Dylan is my favorite or maybe it is Paul, then there is Jack, so many good options to choose from. This is not my usual trope, Rock Stars, but I really had a good time reading this story.

The Right Wrong: A Hot Romantic Comedy by [Michelle Mankin]

Last week, I found time to enjoy L. B. Dunbar’s offering to The Busy Bean series. **** 4 Red Hot Stars

Cowboy (The Busy Bean) by [L.B. Dunbar, Heart Eyes Press]
While I truly did enjoy reading L. B. Dunbar’s mature couple, the story itself would have pulled at my heartstrings no matter their age, but would it have worked if they had been a younger couple?

I like that Scarlett and Bull are mature. I like that Scarlett is so strong and so true to herself but yet so vulnerable. I love that Bull is strong and protective and knows what he wants but at the same time his vulnerability is so raw. There are times Bull needs a Gibbs slap, but gosh he is just so loveable. I love the small town. I love Bull’s family. This is a good story with great details. I love their interactions and the writing and the flow of the story. The villains in this story make sense and lend that something extra to the story.

In Sarah J Brook’s newest release One Hot Fake, Declan shines as a hero with heart. **** 4 Hot Stars

One Hot Fake: An Accidental Fake Marriage Romance by [Sarah J. Brooks]
I like Marian, she is determined, ambitious, confused and she wants more. She does not trust. She needs more than she thinks or wants to admit. I like her personal growth during this story. She is needy and she does not want to be. I like Declan because he is loving, he is more open than he realizes, he is so caring, strong and he is hopeful. He knows early on what he wants and that it is different than what he starts out believing in the beginning of this story. I love the great interaction. The story has parts that are heart rending but in a good way. I love this storyline. I really enjoy the forming of this story. I like the villain in this story, I mean the villain is a good villain, I do not like the villain, but he truly works as a villain.

My previous read, early last week, is a duet. I usually shy away from anything that has more than one part, but I am truly happy that I decided to take on Mabel and farm porn Cal. First up is Farm to Mabel, then we wrap up with Horn of Plenty ***** 5 Red Hot Stars

Farm to Mabel grabs you from the first chapter. You immediately know there is more going on than what is evident. You can tell that Cal is going to be a great character and a sweet hero. You know Mabel is in so much pain beyond the current event. You realize quickly that Mabel is a bit immature and needs to grow up and think things thru more before acting. You can also tell that Mabel’s dad is going to be more of a character than what you see in the first part of the story.

I love how Mabel comes to realize her potential and how she blossoms, matures and comes to realize how things are so different than what she thinks. I love sexy farm porn Cal and his caveman tendencies, LOL. I love his sweet side and the way he loves animals and treats them and people. I feel his pain and I love that he comes to his own realization about himself, Mabel and life. I love the small town and the characters, especially the sisters and Mabel’s dad.

I also recently enjoyed Em Petrova’s newest addition to her Dark Falcons Series, Blade. ***** 5 Red Hot Stars

Blade (Dark Falcons Book 5) by [Em Petrova]

Titus, better known as Blade is rough and absolutely tough. He is kind and caring and lives too much in his head about his worth. Juliette is sweet and kind and pines every day for Titus. Their story gets off to a rocky start. It has suspense and mystery and drama and keeps you on edge. I love it and I love revisiting all the Dark Falcon members and their significant others.

Kim Lorraine gives us a swoon worthy hero who is vulnerable and sweet and so darn sexy in her newest Ryker Ranch story, Ridden Hard. ***** 5 Red Hot Stars

Tristan is an extra sweet hero with a lot of love a d a lot of sexy. Hazel is sweet and trying to get her life back together but also a little lost. I love the way each of these characters grow and flourish in this book. I love the small town feel of the big family. I love the revisit of the prior characters. I love the interactions between Hazel and Tristan. The writing is great, the story is solid and the heat is sweet and spicy. I can’t wait for more.

All kisses are off. I mean all bets. All bets are off. And his clothes, those are off too.

Grr, never mind. I’ll figure this out myself.

Blurb:
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the dark to my sister’s light—the awkward loner to her social butterfly. Growing up, she had it all: our parent’s unyielding approval, perfect grades, a permanent spot at the popular table, and the attention of the hottest guy ever—Duke Kincaid.

After eighteen years of living in her shadow, I couldn’t wait to escape—to finally be my own person. Yet here I am, I’m back in my hometown, once again in Valorie’s shadow. Only now, it’s eternal.

I had life all planned out: join the force, marry Valorie Parsons, and start a family of our own. I have the job, but the girl and all my dreams died before my very eyes.

Finally ready to move on, I agree to a blind date. Imagine my shock when I arrive and find, Valorie’s twin sister, waiting across the table from me. Mallory should be a reminder of all that I’ve lost, but instead she feels like my redemption . . . like maybe life’s giving me a second chance.

But, how can I be enough for her when I’ve already given her sister the best of me?

Excerpt:
Nate follows my line of sight and smirks. He may be my best friend and partner, but damn if I don’t want to knock that smarmy-ass look right off his face. And when he opens his mouth, the feeling intensifies. “It’s okay to—”

I shoot him a withering glare before stomping off toward Mallory.

I don’t stop until I’m close enough to feel the heat of her body. She has to tilt her head back to see me, and when our eyes meet, my name topples from her lips on a breathy sigh. “We need to talk.” My tone is all business—my cop voice, as Nate calls it—as I wrap my fingers around her forearm, prepared to drag her along behind me if necessary. Luckily, she comes all too willingly—so why am I still holding on to her?

The feeling of her soft, sun-warmed skin beneath my palm sends little zaps of electricity under my skin, into my muscle. Her nearness has me strung taut like a drawn bow. Here’s to hoping like hell I don’t snap.

Deep down, like really fucking deep, I know I’m acting like a colossal asshole, but much like a prepubescent boy picking on his schoolyard crush, it’s the only way I know how to deal with all of the conflicting feelings she stirs in me.
